Sea kayaking in Baja is primarily a winter activity and the season runs from early October through early May with fall and spring providing the most optimal paddling conditions. Mid winter, December, January and February, tend to be cool and windy although warm, calm days are NOT uncommon. Summers in Baja are characterized by hot, humid weather and generally the days are too hot to paddle for most people. While summers are not conducive to paddling they are great for scuba diving and sport fishing. Water warmth and visibility are best from June through October in the Sea of Cortez. The scuba diving and sport fishing seasons run from May through October. Hurricane season in La Paz runs mid August through early October.
